You may have missed it last week, but ground was finally broken on a new Huntsville outpatient clinic for veterans. The 48,000-square-foot facility will be located at 500 Markaview Road between Clearview Cancer Institute and Butler High School. The veterans clinic will bring the Madison/Decatur and Huntsville community based outpatient clinics together under one roof and provide primary care, mental health, optometry and have an onsite pharmacy. City leaders said the clinic is something that they, along with VA leaders, have worked on for years. The new facility will cost $39.5 million to build and is expected to open in the fall of 2015. With North Alabama having such a growing veteran population and with recent base realignments, it's important to meet the health needs of our veteran population. They deserve the best, and if we can treat them here without making them travel all the way to Birmingham, it's a win-win situation. I'm Vanessa Oubre, that's "My Take" what's yours?
