Deputy tenders resignation following Walmart shooting

Good Monday evening from the WAFF 48 Newsroom.

We're continuing to follow the story of a Morgan County Sheriff's Deputy who shot a wanted suspect in a Huntsville Walmart last week. Brian Fulford has resigned on this, the same day he was set to have an administrative hearing on the shooting of David Horton last week outside the South Huntsville Walmart. The Huntsville Police Department has charged Fulford with 2nd degree assault. But before the hearing, Fulford resigned his position with the Morgan County Sheriff's Department. WAFF 48's Sarah Navoy will have the latest developments on this story.

Decatur police are still looking for the driver of a vehicle than hit and injured a bicyclist and left the scene. The incident happened late this afternoon on Highway 31. The vehicle is being described by police as a silver, 4-door sedan. We'll have the latest on the search.

And a Marshall County grand jury has indicted a woman of running over her 2-year old grandson.  Rebecca Elrod has been indicted on a charge of criminally negligent homicide in the death of her grandson in Albertville. Elrod is charged with being under the influence of prescription medication at the time.

Be sure and join us for these stories and more at 10.
