Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Richmond's days of triple-digit annual homicide counts are long gone, but a new survey still calls the city the fourth most dangerous in Virginia.

The most dangerous city, according to Movoto Real Estate, is Roanoke. Portsmouth came in number two on the list, which includes all 37 cities with more than 10,000 residents in the state. Next came Norfolk, then Richmond and Petersburg.

If you want to find somewhere safer, head toward the Chesapeake Bay to Poquoson which topped the safest cities list. Vienna came in second Blacksburg was number three. Falls Church and Herndon round out the top five.

The survey weighted violent crime and is on a per capita basis.
