GRANBURY, TX – Global Football regrets to announce that the planned visit this August of Mountain View High School to Dublin to take part in the Global Ireland Football Tournament (GIFT) 2014 has been canceled.
Due to the withdrawal of the Lions' provisional opponent for the game, it has not been possible to secure opposition that meets the requirements of an Arizona high school playing a regular season game overseas.

"Despite our best efforts, we were not able to find another American high school team willing to take on this challenge and play Mountain View," said Global Football President Patrick Steenberge. "When the original opponent changed their minds and canceled in January, it was simply too late for another school to take on such a project.  We now will feature two Pennsylvania schools which have been on our schedule for about a year now."

Mountain View football head coach Bam McRae said: "I am disappointed that our football team will not have an opportunity to showcase its talents overseas and to take part in this event. We will have to rebound and come back stronger for next season, turning adversity into something positive."

The Lions under McRae have been at the forefront locally of involvement with Global Football. The school recently sent graduating senior linemen David Ogden and John Reynolds to Spain to compete with a squad of high school players from around the country.

The American team known as Stars and Stripes beat a Spaniard Under-19 All Star team 47-6 in Barcelona.

Ogden and Reynolds are poised to serve their country in the military.  After graduation, Ogden will head to the U.S. Naval Academy and Reynolds to West Point.

Among the things the two enjoyed most about their trip was a the chance to visit the famed Catholic cathedral Sagrada Familia.
