Parents want to help keep boys and girls club open

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A local Boys and Girls club is set to close in May. Some parents have made an effort to save it.

The Farley Boys and Girls Club on Memorial Parkway in South Huntsville is scheduled to close on May 23. Board members said it was due to funding.

Thursday night, parents met with the board and expressed their concerns about closing the club. They also wanted to know their options.

"Let us know as a company, and let us know as parents what we can do," said one parent, Michelle Matthews. "If we have to hold fundraisers, get out to try and get business support, let us know."

Parents said they needed the club for after school care as well as other programs that were offered. Board members said they would work with parents to try to keep it open.
