HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Several runners in the Tennessee Valley gathered together to remember the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

Athletes hit the pavement Tuesday for a run to mark the solemn anniversary. The commemorative run started at 5:30 p.m. at Fleet Feet in Jones Valley. Many runners sported "Boston Strong" t-shirts or wore the traditional colors of the Boston Marathon, blue and yellow.

The three to five mile run was free to the public.

Organizers of the event said they wanted to pull the community together to show that Boston had support all the way down in Alabama.
