Man threatens police with toy gun in Sylvania cemetery

SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Sylvania Police disarmed a man who appeared to have a weapon in Toledo Memorial Park cemetery on Tuesday afternoon. It turned out he only had a toy gun, but the man was taken into custody.

Sylvania Police Captain Rick Schnnor says the man was upset and threatened police officers with the gun. Officers then ordered him to put the gun on the ground and surrender. When the man complied, police discovered the gun was a toy.

Entrances to the cemetery on Monroe Street were blocked during the incident.

According to Schnnor, the man was taken to a mental health facility.

The captain also said no one at the cemetery was in danger.
