TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Forest Service has closed a portion of the Coronado National Forest in the vicinity of the Brown Fire in the Huachuca Mountains.

According to a news release, during the closure use of or entry into Brown Canyon Area west and areas northwest of Ramsey Canyon is prohibited. Forest Service Road 5736, Brown Canyon Ranch Road and multiple Forest Service trails are also closed to public use during the closure.

The closure, which is meant to keep the public safe from hazards associated with firefighting activity, is scheduled to last until May 1.

Meanwhile, authorities in Cochise County have issued a pre-evacuation notice in the area of Ramsey Canyon, and residents of the area are advised to have a "go-bag" ready.

According to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, the Sheriff's Office Assist Team, Sierra Vista Police Department Volunteer Services personnel and Arizona Rangers are conducting the effort.

Grid areas have been established from the top of Ramsey Canyon to Highway 92.

Residents of the area are strongly encouraged to have emergency preparations in place.

The Brown Fire has burned more than 360 acres.

160 firefighters and several aircraft are on the scene.

No buildings are threatened but the smoke continues to be highly visible from Sierra Vista.

Firefighting helicopters are getting water from special reservoirs set up by crews at Fort Huachuca.

The fire location is so remote that it is difficult to get ground crews to the area.

A public meeting on the Brown Fire is happening at 7 p.m. for residents living in the area. It will be at the Sierra Vista Ranger District office at 4070 S. Avenida Saracino in Hereford.

A deadly virus is threatening the crawfish industry in Southwest Louisiana. It's called white spot syndrome virus and it was first discovered in Thailand, but somehow it made its way to ponds in South Louisiana and specialists are struggling to find the funds to research a solution.  “The catch was increasing and increasing and then it dropped 70% and that's when you saw the dead crawfish floating in the water,” said a crawfish farmer of 34 years, Ian Garbarino.
