The Alabama Hammers will make the trip up I-65 to Nashville for its third consecutive game on the road and will face the Nashville Venom on Friday, April 18, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium. The Hammers are winless in three games while the Venom are 2-0 including a season-opening victory over the Hammers on March 29 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.
"The Venom has gotten off to a good start as their quarterback has played well and the entire team is well balanced," said Dean Cokinos head coach of the Hammers. "Nashville is making the plays when they need them. For us, we will need to put forth a complete effort on offense, defense and special teams."
Last week, against Richmond, the Hammers led by a score of 35-18 going into the fourth quarter, but were outscored 20-nothing in the final stanza giving the Raiders a come-from-behind 38-35 victory over the Hammers. Cokinos said he knows the Hammers gave a great effort and played well as a whole controlling the tempo of the game throughout. He added, "When you turn the ball over three times in the fourth quarter and give up two returns for scores and a missed tackle on fourth down for another score, it's tough to win in arena football. We have lost two consecutive games in the final seconds. Our progression is to learn how to close out games and play the full 60-minutes."
The Friday evening contest will be available on the Hammers Radio Network, which is available on WAFN-FM, 92.7-Arab, WZZN-FM, 97.7 The Zone-Huntsville, WWIC-AM, 1050-Scottsboro. Michael St. John and Steve Moulton will handle the radio broadcast.
