DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Decatur police responding to a shoplifting ended up arresting a man for drug manufacturing.

On Saturday, officers responded to the Walmart on Spring Avenue for a shoplifter. Police said Darryl Pokrzywinski had stolen a quantity of cold packs (Ammonium Nitrate) and aquarium tubing and was taken into custody by Walmart Loss Prevention.

Pokrzywinski was charged with theft. After officers said they found pseudoephedrine and lithium batteries on him, they arrested Pokrzywinski for unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, since these items are consistent with one-pot meth manufacturing.

Pokrzywinski was taken to Decatur City Jail and will be taken to Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $5,500 bond.
