HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge is wrapping up in the Rocket City on Saturday.

The event is at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Nearly 90 students from across the U.S. and from several countries are participating in the student engineering design competition.

"What we're trying to do is inspire kids to innovate with technology in these rovers that will eventually, hopefully may be included on the rovers as we go on the surface of Mars," said Patrick Scheuermann of the Marshall Space Flight Center. "And this is the age group of the people that'll actually be astronauts to be on the surface of Mars one day."

Student teams from Arab High, East Limestone High, Florence High and Huntsville Center for Technology are participating in the two-day event that ends Saturday afternoon.
