Alleged thief hit by oncoming traffic

BOAZ, AL (WAFF) -

A suspected thief is in the hospital after getting hit by a car in Marshall County.

The ordeal began at 256 Customs along Highway 431 South and ended in a wreck.

Boaz police said around 3:40 p.m. Friday, a man stole from the business and then tried to hitch a ride down the road. Police said that it turned out the driver had seen what happened at 256 Customs, and with the crook in the car, turned around and headed back to the business.

Officers said the suspect ran off across Highway 431 and got hit by oncoming traffic. Police said the driver who hit him was unable to avoid the collision and no charges are expected.

The alleged thief was flown by MedFlight to Huntsville Hospital. There is no word on his condition yet. The names of the offender and the driver have not been released yet.
