An early Saturday morning fire destroyed an unoccupied house in Madison County.

It happened at the intersection of Mount Lebanon Road and Stewart Road in Meridianville.

Around 3 a.m., a Meridianville volunteer firefighter said he was responding to a wreck when he saw flames coming from the area. Meridianville, Toney and Moores Mill firefighters responded to the scene. The Red Cross also responded to assist firefighters.

The single-story house was destroyed in the fire. The Meridianville fire chief said no one had lived in the house for a long time and there was no power running to it. A fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate. No one was injured in the fire.
