MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The man accused of fatally stabbing a Madison County man appeared in front of a judge. Dan Cobb is being held on $75-thousand.

Madison County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Cobb at a mobile home off Phillips Road Thursday night. Investigators said Cobb is accused of fatally stabbing 64-year-old Bobby Pierce. They said a second person named Monica Hayes was injured but is recovering, and that she is the suspect's mother.

Neighbors said the victim owned the mobile home and that Hayes and Cobb stopped by occasionally. They also said the two men had verbal confrontations in the past.

Dave Neely lived next door on Phillip's Road. He said he knew something wasn't right when he watched emergency crews pull up and authorities begin roping off the area.

"It was chaotic," he said. "I was out here, but I didn't hear anything go on. No commotion or nothing."

Neely said it wasn't the first time he had heard about the two arguing.

"I knew they were into it there that boy and Mr. Bobby Pierce, but I didn't know it had to do with something like that."

Dan Cobb was charged with one count of murder. Investigators believe a domestic dispute led to the stabbing. According to jail administration Cobb's file said he's locked up for an incident surrounding murder, family, a knife, and domestic violence.
