HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A jury will deliberate for a third day as to whether the father of the Discovery Middle School shooter assisted in trying to help his son flee to Pakistan to avoid his murder trial.

Deliberations in the trial of Dr. Iqbal Memon began Tuesday. Memon's wife Safia previously took a plea deal after facing the same charge.

The jury began its second day of deliberations around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Wednesday afternoon, jurors came back with a question for the judge. They asked for clarification on the elements of the charge of hindering prosecution. In his explanation to the jury, the judge went over the meaning of ‘beyond a reasonable doubt.'

Dr. Memon refused to speak to cameras as he left the courtroom. The jury returned to deliberate after receiving their response from the judge, but ended deliberations for the day at 5 p.m.
