Massage business worker arrested on prostitution charge

A woman was arrested at the Lucky Spa Massage and Body Work after an investigation into alleged prostitution.

Acting on a tip, Madison police launched an undercover investigation and found at least one employee was offering sexual services for money. Police executed a search warrant at the business on Old Madison Pike on Tuesday and arrested one employee, 51-year-old Li Ping Chen.

Chen was charged with prohibited acts and booked into the Metro Jail on $443 bond.

The business is located close to both a police station and Bob Jones High School.

We stopped by the business to see what the owner had to say, but she refused the opportunity to speak. Next door, at Joy's Dance Wear, that establishment's owner said cars are constantly coming and going, especially late at night.

"This is Madison City. The police station is right around the corner. I am shocked," she said.

The owner, who didn't want to be fully identified, said she didn't know what was going on next door, but a red flag was raised when customers began confusing her business for the other and using her parking lot.

"When I moved in here from the old location, a gentleman walked in and said 'Is this a Chinese massage place?' I said, 'Excuse me?' They come over here and park on my property and they cross the yard," she said.

She is concerned about it affecting the reputation of her business, especially because families come by to buy ballet clothing from her shop.

The investigation is ongoing, and Madison Police expect more charges as well as the revocation of the business' license.
