Status hearing held for suspect in Holly Bobo case

PARSONS, TN (WSMV) -

A status hearing was held Wednesday morning for the suspect in the Holly Bobo case.

Zachary Adams is accused of kidnapping and killing the nursing student in 2011. Her body still has not been found.

Adams was not in court Wednesday since a judge waived his right to appear, but the judge says he now regrets his decision, and from now on, Adams will have to show up.

The date for Adams' next court proceeding was set for April 30 at 1 p.m.

During Wednesday's hearing, the state warned that they have three years of evidence and that it may take some time to comb through.

According to the state, they have so much discovery that they have an employee totally dedicated to sorting through it.

However, the state says they refuse to do any kind of discovery until Adams officially retains a lawyer.

Although Adams has an attorney, he has not officially retained one yet, and the judge says they cannot proceed until this happens.

The Bobo family was in court Wednesday and met with the district attorney after the hearing.

Family friends say they're disappointed that more didn't happen on Wednesday.

"The defense didn't seem to be prepared or it was a pretty good ploy to put it off, and, you know, we want to move forward," said Tammy Ramey, a friend of the Bobo family.
