DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The DeKalb County school system is being sued, after a football player was assaulted by another player during football practice.

A Birmingham attorney said it revolves around a practice at Geraldine High School in July 2012. He claims a 15-year-old was punched in the face and left in a coma, with no school officials present for 30 minutes before medical attention was called.

Attempts to reach Superintendent Hugh Taylor for comment have been unsuccessful.
