The Decatur City Council has approved a huge retail project that we've been telling you about for years now. By a vote of 3-2, council members have approved an incentive agreement for the Bass pro Shops –anchored retail development at the intersection of Interstate-65 and Alabama Highway 20. WAFF 48's Sarah Navoy attended tonight's meeting and will have the latest details at 10.
We're also continuing to follow the latest developments on a suspicious death in Lauderdale County. Vincent Crivelli, the newest member of the WAFF 48 News team, will have more on a body found on County Road 511 in the Anderson community. Investigators tell us the victim died of multiple gunshot wounds. And family members tell WAFF 48 News at the victim is 61-year old Royce Franklin Varnell. We've uncovered that Varnell was wheelchair bound and was living alone.
We're also continuing to follow the bizarre case of an Albertville man who went to pay a parking ticket, only to find out that it was fraudulent. We're continuing to work to find out if this was a scam intended to collect money from the victim.
