FLORENCE, Ala. -- Cody Skinner scattered nine hits over nine innings in pitching West Georgia to a 5-2 win over North Alabama at Mike Lane Field Friday night.
Skinner (3-5) got the complete-game win and shutout the Lions over the last five innings. Both teams scored single runs in the third and fourth innings before West Georgia took the lead for good with a three-run seventh inning.
With the loss UNA falls to 18-19 overall and 8-14 in the Gulf South Conference. West Georgia improved to 13-21 and 7-11.
UNA starter Brantley Claunch had to leave the game in the third inning after taking a line-drive off his hand and midsection. He allowed one run on four hits over two and two-thirds innings. Bradley Bailey pitched three and a third innings in taking his first loss. He allowed three runs on four hits.
Dylan Boston led UNA with three hits and drove in the Lions' first run with an RBI-single in the third. Josh Carpenter doubled and scored UNA's second run on an RBI-single by Thomas Lundborg.
The Wolves and Lions will play a double-header Saturday at Mike Lane Field beginning at 2 p.m.
