FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

A thief was caught on tape targeting a store in the Shoals, stealing money from a child in need.

The owner and employees at Lil Steve's in Florence said they don't understand how someone could do such a thing. Employees set up a donation jar to help one of their employee's children. Two weeks before, 7-year-old Todd Miller went into cardiac arrest and had to be sent to the hospital.

Employees are heartbroken over the incident. They said every penny counts.

"It boiled my blood, you would think this guy, once he got in the car and he read about Nick and Todd and what they were going through, maybe he would've left it somewhere, but it's been very upsetting," said Steve Modas, owner of Lil Steve's. "My employees, my staff, they've been so passionate about helping a co-worker, and we are all like family here, we really are, and this has got us all upset."

Employees hope someone can identify the man in the video so they can alert police.
