LACEY'S SPRING, AL (WAFF) -

Morgan County deputies discovered a moonshine still in Lacey's Spring Thursday afternoon.

Deputies went to a mobile home on Vansandt Road on Thursday, intending to question a man regarding a robbery investigation.

When he didn't cooperate, deputies took him into custody. While arresting the man, investigators found three meth labs and the moonshine still behind the home.

Deputies arrested Mark Guthrie and Deanna Smith in connection to the bust. Both face several drug-related charges. In addition, Guthrie faces charges of illegal possession of prohibited liquor, obstruction, and giving a false name to law enforcement.

Guthrie said he didn't think he was doing anything wrong with regard to the still. "Honestly, I thought it was okay to have just a small. I wasn't making a lot of moonshine or nothing. I only make like a gallon or something. Less than a gallon. That's all I did," he said.

Bail for Guthrie and Smith was set at $500,000 each.
