HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Redstone Arsenal officials released a statement Wednesday evening offering their condolences and support to the staff at Fort Hood after a shooting incident that took place there.

All of us at Redstone Arsenal are deeply saddened by the incident at Fort Hood today. Many of us have ties to the Soldiers, Civilians and their families at Fort Hood and they are all in our thoughts and prayers tonight. Redstone Arsenal's leadership and force protection personnel are closely monitoring this situation as it develops and will take appropriate actions as the situation dictates.

Arsenal officials said their Force Protection personnel are closely monitoring the situation in Texas.

The gunman is said to be an elisted soldier with previous behavioral health issues. Police and Fort Hood officials aren't saying what may have been his motive. The investigation is ongoing.
