Governor awards training grant to Scottsboro company

Governor Robert Bentley is helping a North Alabama business train its employees.

The governor awarded a $24,000 grant to Cherokee Tool in Scottsboro. The funding comes from the US Department of Labor.

Cherokee Tool has been in business since 2011. The business designs and manufactures machine parts and tools for railroad, medical and other industries.

The grant will help employees achieve certification needed to open doors for Cherokee Tool to work with a wider range of clients.

The company is contributing more than $25,000 toward the training.
