DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Multiple volunteer fire departments, including those from the Alabama and Georgia Forestry Commissions, battled a wildfire on the state line Tuesday.
A fire reportedly broke out on DeKalb County Road 169 at the Alabama/Georgia state line Tuesday afternoon.
Three units from the AL and GA Forestry Commission were called to the fire. Officials said that rough terrain in the area is causing communication problems between them and firefighters.
Multiple volunteer firefighters are assisting in the effort. At 9:45 p.m., Mike Kyser with the Alabama Forestry Commission said that the Georgia FC crews were called off and that the fire was 80% contained. The fire was reportedly fully contained about an hour later.
The fire burned between 80 and 100 acres.
