HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

In Alabama, more than 70,000 have signed up for health care coverage through the federal exchange. One Huntsville organization alone reported helping more than 4,000 get insurance.

Folks at the AIDS Action Coalition said there has been no shortage of people seeking help in the Huntsville area. Their goal was to help at least 4,000 people navigate through the Healthcare.gov website, and they did.

Other groups like Bama Covered have helped thousands in the area get insurance as well.

The deadline to sign up passed at midnight – however, there is a two week grace period starting today. Anyone who attempted to log on and had problems with the site has until April 15 to complete registration.

People we spoke to Tuesday said they are worried that won't be long enough. ‘I tried getting on every website I could think of and it kept sending me back," said Shana Gushard. "So I am just frustrated. And the deadline – I tried to have a job before now, but with the deadline fast approaching, I am frustrated.

Anyone who doesn't sign up for health care prior to the April 15 extended deadline could face a penalty.
