NEW MARKET, AL (WAFF) -

13-year-old Aaron Slack of New Market loves numbers – and this weekend, numbers paid off for him.

Friday night in Orlando FL, Aaron won $10,000 at the first-ever National Number Knockout competition.

Number Knockout is described as a fast-paced game in which players create mathematical equations quickly without the aid of a calculator.

Aaron moved from 11th place at midday to third in the final round. He eventually won the competition, defeating more than 30 other competitors nationwide.

He said he will be putting most of his prize towards his education, with the exception of $100, which he said will go toward buying himself a new Xbox.
