MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -

The Montgomery Ballet halted practices for the weekend as ballet members cleaned up glass from rocks that were thrown at the windows of its studio on Eastern Boulevard.

Office Manager Sarah-Ellen Thompson said police are investigating the vandalism, and the ballet has requested extra surveillance by officers.

She estimates that the crime occurred sometime between 6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday. She tells The Montgomery Advertiser (http://on.mgmadv.com/1i46yVB) that she's not sure why anyone would damage the studio.

Nicole Miller, a teacher with the ballet and member for six seasons, said the most trouble they've had at the location were some cars being broken into a few years ago.

The ballet hopes to be able to resume normal operations by Monday.

David: Showers and storms ongoing across the Valley

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
