HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A local girl needs your vote to win a custom wheelchair accessible vehicle. The 2014 National Mobility Awareness Campaign is hosting a local heroes contest.

Haeleigh Strong of New Hope, 10-years-old, is participating in the nationwide contest. Haeleigh has cerebral palsy. Her parents aid a wheelchair accessible vehicle would help them a lot.

"More mobility for her," said Haeleigh's stepmother Cindy Gowan. "More travel plans for us, because as far as traveling and going places, if Haeleigh can't go, we don't go. We don't single her out. If it's not accessible or easy for her to do or be involved with, we don't do it."

You can vote for Haeleigh until May 9. The winner will be announced in May.
