(WMC-TV) – Memphis police charged 25-year-old Deandrey Peterson with two counts of aggravated rape and aggravated burglary after an early morning attack that happened Thursday at the Abington Apartments.

At 5:20 a.m., police were called to the 2500 block of Prince Rupert Lane about a sexual assault that happened a few hours earlier around 2:45 a.m. This happened inside the Abington Apartments, where three rapes were reported in February.

When officers arrived they found a woman who said an armed man broke into her home and sexually assaulted her. After the assault, the suspect fled the scene and the victim called police.

During the police search of nearby neighborhoods, authorities noticed a man fitting the victim's description. They took Peterson into custody.

Detectives are continuing to investigate his possible involvement in other crimes reported in that area.
