Emergency crews extinguish downtown Charleston house fire

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Emergency crews have extinguished a structure fire on Line Street in downtown Charleston.

Officials with the Charleston Fire Department say they along with crews from the North Charleston Fire Dearptment, Charleston police and Charleston County EMS responded to a reported residential fire at 3:06 p.m.

Fire crews arrived at the 100 block of Line Street and reported smoke showing from the attic of a two-story duplex residential structure.

Crews were able to get the fire under control in 20 minutes.

According to emergency officials, residents in the home were alerted to the fire and were able to escape without injury. Members of the Charleston Fire Department Marshal Division have begun an investigation into the cause of the fire.
