Single-car crash sends power lines across road

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A one-car crash sent a man to the hospital early Monday morning.

Huntsville police said the driver's car slammed into a tree around 1:45 a.m. on Shady Lane Drive. Huntsville firefighters, HEMSI, and the rescue squad also responded to the crash.

Police said that during the crash, the PT Cruiser snapped a utility pole in half, sending power lines across the road, and ran over a fire hydrant. The driver was trapped for a few minutes, but crews were able to pull the driver out.

The driver is now in Huntsville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
