TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Pima County Sheriff's officials say the body of a woman found in a Catalina Foothills home this week were in such an advanced state of decomposition, they will have to rely on ground breaking forensic technology to identify the victim.

Deputy Tracy Suitt said the medical examiner's office would have to re-hydrate the victim's decomposed fingers to get a full print.

The body was found earlier this week inside a home in the 3000 block of Guthrie Mountain Place, located about a half mile away from the La Encantada shopping center on Skyline Drive.  Deputies said animal control officers smelled the remains while conducting a welfare check at the home.

Court documents state deputies had to break down the door, and found the victim's body in the master bedroom.  Court documents state the victim had multiple gunshot wounds, and a deputy observed many insects, mainly flies in the bedroom.

Deputies arrested the man who lived in the home, Myron Fletcher at Palo Verde hospital, where court documents state he had checked himself in.

Investigators said they believed they knew who the woman was, but were not releasing a name until forensic tests could confirm her identity, and next of kin was notified.

Fletcher is now behind bars in the Pima County Jail.
