MONTGOMERY, AL (WAFF) - Early Thursday morning the Alabama House approved Carly's Law in a 97-0 vote, bringing the legislation one step closer to passing.
Carly's Law would allow children with rare genetic disorders to have access to a marijuana-derived oil known as CBD oil.
If the bill becomes law, it will fund a $1 million UAB study that will allow families to participate in it and get the oil.
Families in support of Carly's Law said they plan to travel to Montgomery Thursday to hopefully watch the Alabama Senate give the bill final passage.
There are currently four days left in the 2014 legislative session.
