HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Huntsville man will go to trial for the murder of his accused robbery accomplice. Investigators said the man died following a gunfight.

The case dates back to July 2013. Investigators said the intended robbery victims fought back, and John Kenneth Colvin died from a gunshot wound. Police said Colvin and Brandon Cadaris Pride approached three men on Monticello Drive and tried to rob them.

US Marshals arrested Pride on Winchester Road a month later. According to jail records, Pride got out of jail on a $60,000 bond in September 2013, but a judge revoked his bond for an unrelated drug charge, and he remains in the Metro Jail without bond.

Court records show Pride has a lengthy criminal record, including guilty pleas for drug charges.

A trial date has not been set on the murder charge.
