A man is in custody after police said he tried to rob a convenience store in Huntsville.
It happened around 2 p.m. at a mini-mart on Merdian Street and Winchester Road.
The clerk said the man entered the store and demanded money. He said the man had a hand wrapped inside a camouflage hoodie, leading him to believe the man was armed.
The clerk retrieved a nearby bat and swung it at the man, scaring him away.
A passerby witnessed the man running away from the store and notified police of his location.
20-year-old Juan Lee Banks was located by Huntsville Police, US Marshals and the Fugitive Task Force. Banks was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery.
No money was taken and no injuries were reported.
