NORTH ALABAMA (WAFF) -

Several cases are on the docket for this week across North Alabama.

The man facing a murder charge for a Huntsville wreck will be in court Monday. Erik Christensen is accused of causing a wreck in 2011 that killed a man. Witnesses said Christensen was driving an ADT van at the time of the crash. Investigators believe he was driving drunk when he crashed with another car on Highway 20 in Huntsville.

Four men are charged with robbery and due in court Monday. Three adults – Derrick Brewton, Troy Cartwright and Pierre Payton – and 16-year-old Lucas Ray Walker are accused of robbing a pharmacy in Hazel Green in September 2012. Brewton faces an additional kidnapping charge, accused of holding a man outside the business at gunpoint.

A preliminary hearing is set for Monday in the case of a man accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy. 36-year-old Carlos Garcia-Ramirez is charged with two counts of first-degree sodomy and two counts in the second degree. Russellville Police said a 16-year-old boy came forward to say Garcia-Ramirez had been abusing him since the age of 7.

    Our news gathering partner at the Decatur Times Daily reports the city of Sheffield in Colbert County is dealing with a staffing shortage in their fire department.  Fire Chief Dewey King, who is also the city's public safety director, says that low wages are contributing to a high turnover rate.
