To either keep or fire Carol Wicks as Director of Animal Services will be a decision made by the city council. If it comes to that, it would be put on a Decatur City Council meeting agenda for further review. So far, it is not on the agenda for their next meeting on Sep 2. If the issue comes before the city council, that's when we hope to find out why Mayor Kyle decided to put Wicks on paid administrative leave. He will not comment on it, saying he cannot talk about a pending personnel issue. Littleville, AL (WAFF) -

A huge wildfire is burning in two counties in Northwest Alabama.

The Emergency Management Agencies in Colbert and Franklin Counties said there are a total of 11 fire departments working the fire.

It is currently under control but has already burned 450 to 500 acres, according to the State Forestry Commission. The fire started just before noon today in the area of Twin Pines subdivision in Littleville.

Winds caused it to spread quickly.

State forestry workers have three bulldozers on the ground and another one is on the way to help fight the fire.

The forestry service is also flying a plane over the area to look for where the fire fight needs the most attention. So far, efforts have been concentrated on an area where homes had been threatened, but now that area of the fire is under control.

According to Colleen Vansant of the Forestry Commission 70% was contained around 7 p.m. and will continue until it is 100% contained.
