COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Colbert County man told deputies he doesn't remember about his alleged role in an assault because he was injecting cocaine throughout the day of the incident.

Jeffrey Scott Boyd was brought in for questioning in connection with an assault reported Wednesday afternoon. The victim said Boyd beat her with a tire tool after she let him out of her vehicle to go to the trunk.

After beating her, the woman alleges that Boyd then got into her vehicle and drove away. Her wallet with $400 cash was still inside. The woman went to a nearby house on Smallwood Mountain Road to receive help and contact authorities.

The woman underwent surgery for fractures to the face and skull.

Boyd turned himself in to investigators later in the day. He told investigators he had been injecting cocaine and taking pain pills throughout the day, and did not remember what took place earlier in the day until he woke up and saw posts about it on Facebook.

A search of the car was performed. The woman's wallet and the tire tool were not located.

Boyd was charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree assault. Boyd was also charged with second-degree theft in an unrelated case involving another stolen wallet, which Boyd denies taking.

Bond for all three charges totals $152,500. Boyd is in the Colbert County Jail.
