DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A DeKalb County police officer pleaded notguilty Wednesday to charges that he assaulted his wife.

Crossville police officer Jason Wade Johnsonentered his plea in a DeKalb County District Court. Johnson was chargedin early January and placed on leave from the department.

Johnson filed for divorce from his wifeseveral days later.

His trial is scheduled for Aug. 13.
