DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - A disruption in services from AT&T has been fixed, after what company officials called a "hardware issue" cut landline services to many customers and businesses in the Decatur area Thursday afternoon.
A Facebook post from Joe Wheeler EMC Thursday afternoon stated that AT&T cut a main fiber in their phone lines. The electric cooperative stated that nobody was able to get through to them on the phone because of the disruption.
Decatur City Schools sent out a robo-call to parents saying that their lines were also down and they were not able to make or receive calls.
An AT&T spokesperson released a statement just before 4 p.m. Thursday, saying that a hardware issue caused the outage, and that technicians worked quickly to restore service.
Joe Wheeler EMC confirmed shortly afterward that their phone service was back to normal.
