FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Mayors in the Shoals are preparing for an international trip in an effort to help boost the economy. They hope the trip will further grow relationships with companies who've already made the Shoals their home.

Florence Mayor Mickey Haddock, Muscle Shoals Mayor David Bradford and SEDA President Forrest Wright will leave on April 5th for a 10-day economic mission trip. They plan to meet with leaders of North American Lighting, Tasus and CBC Group. The companies have all made their stateside home in the Shoals within the last 10 years.

The mayors said these Japanese companies have made investments in the Shoals and the trip is a way to say "thank you" and help build their relationships.

The mayors will spend their first three days in South Korea before heading to Japan to take part in the "Doing Business in Alabama Campaign" sponsored by the Alabama Department of Commerce.
