MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Madison County woman took the stand in her own defense in a murder trial Wednesday morning.

43-year-old Karla Chapman stabbed Jonathan Elliff to death in a Hazel Green trailer almost four years ago. She testified Wednesday that the incident was an act of self-defense.

Prosecutors said the two were fighting over money. Defense attorneys said Elliff threatened to kill her and burn the trailer down.
