HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - If you haven't visited the Huntsville Hospital Medical Mall lately, you might be surprised at some of the additions, like a new pharmacy.
Michael McDaniel is the Director of Pharmacy for Huntsville Hospital. "It's definitely a convenience for our patients and we've found in the literature that's across the united states that if people can find it easier to get their prescriptions filled, they will fill them and they will take them, and that improves compliance," he said.
He said the feedback has been great. "We've heard on the Facebook site that that's a real big convenience for them and the local governmental clinic that opened up here. They were the ones that were really pivotal in getting us to open up this place."
A father/daughter duo we talked with visited the new pharmacy shortly after a stop at Huntsville Pediatric Associates. Derek Schmook said this makes life easier. "We can go to the doctor right across the hall to figure out what's wrong with her and then come over here and get our medicine. It's very convenient and we don't have to go any where else," he said.
There is a lab if you need blood drawn... and you can even get a haircut while you wait.
Once you've done all that, there's even a place where you can stop and get something to eat.
Felix Moreno of Harvest was there on the day of our visit, taking his wife to physical therapy. "This provided us with all the facilities - not only for my wife, Cheryl, to get her therapy down here, but also the convenience of eating and meeting other specialists, and they're awesome."
Giving patients more options under one roof.
