Affidavit reveals details of sex tourism investigation

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

An 11-page affidavit pulled from federalcourt records reveals the investigation that led to the arrest of a man inHuntsville for attempted sex trafficking.

50-year-old Patrick Mingawas arrested at a home on Steeplechase Drive on Friday. He is accused ofrunning a sex tourism business onCraigslist. Ads purportedly offered to arrange lodging, transportation,meals and unlimited access to girls under the age of 13 in Ecuador andColombia.

Court documents show anundercover investigator first contacted Minga by email last August. The investigatortold Minga that he saw an ad for a trip to Ecuador, and that he and a smallgroup of men were looking for "a special experience."

Minga wrote back, sayingthat he specialized in "taboo." The two exchanged emails for a couple of monthsbefore the undercover agent deposited $1,400 in Minga's account Oct. 4.

Minga returned to the USfrom Ecuador on March 2. Investigators tracked him down to a house onSteeplechase Drive in Huntsville. The agent went to the home and spokeface-to-face with Minga before taking him into custody.

Patrick Minga is now in theJefferson County Jail, awaiting transfer to Florida to face charges.
