AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

Akron Fire has apprehended the man who fled his vehicle and started running on foot before it went over Cuyahoga Falls.

Lieutenant Leon Henderson say the man, who fled from the vehicle, is being questioned as to what happened.

One dispatcher with Akron police just told 19 Action News, "We have him. There is a man in custody."

According to Henderson, just after 7 p.m. the Akron Fire Department's dive team, two battalion chiefs and their medical unit were all dispatched to the gorge at East Cuyahoga Falls and Front Street.

The initial call to the station was, "A car is in the water," reports Henderson.

All battalion chiefs, divers and medical teams have cleared the scene.
