MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The Madison County School Board took a standon a bill regarding common core standards Thursday.

Late Thursday afternoon, the board approved aresolution opposing Senate Bill 380. The bill would repeal the Alabama Collegeand Career-Ready Standards, also known as the common core curriculum.

Dr. David Copeland said he thinks common coreis good for the students. "I think we need to set the bar very high. In ourarea, having many military families, certainly makes sense when they come andgo. It just gives us more of a system. I believe there's about 44 states that'sadopted that. It makes sense to me and to our organization to have highstandards that you can travel with," he said.
