AL State Trooper recovering after being struck by vehicle

CRENSHAW CO., AL (WSFA) -

An the Alabama State Trooper is recovering at home following a Thursday night incident in which he was struck by a vehicle.

The officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries but was later released from the hospital.

The Trooper, who is not being identified by name, was directing traffic near Luverne in Crenshaw County Thursday night when the vehicle hit him. The Alabama Department of Public Safety says the Trooper was assisting a motorist on Highway 29 two miles north of Luverne just before 6 p.m. when he was struck.

The Trooper was wearing a reflective vest and had emergency lights activated at the time of the collision.

Nothing further is being released at this time while the investigation continues.
