LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The Limestone County District Attorney will no longer pursue legal action toward overturning a convicted rapist's sentence.

The DA's office announced Thursday it will not take an appeal of Austin Clem's sentence to the State Supreme Court, after talking with the family of the victim.

The decision comes after the State Appeals Court upheld the sentence for Clem that includes no prison time.

A jury convicted Clem on first and second-degree rape charges involving the same victim.

DA Brian Jones said his office will work to make sure Clem remains in compliance with all the terms of his sex offender registration and the conditions of his probation.
