HAMMONDVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A popular cable television show's crew is in DeKalb County, giving a restaurant there a complete makeover.

Chef Robert Irvine and company from Food Network's Restaurant Impossible are making Big Jim's Bama-Q in Hammondville the target of their next mission.

The show visits mom-and-pop restaurants and provides owners with a $10,000 makeover along with overhauls to menu, cooking procedures and more. The restaurants featured then re-launch to the public, all within the course of 72 hours.

Production on the Bama-Q episode began Wednesday with the arrival by limousine of Chef Irvine. The new look of the restaurant is set to be unveiled Friday night.

The mayor said he hopes the publicity will help the town get a place on the map. "There's not a whole lot of big things that happen here in Hammondville," said Larry Watson. "We're hoping that people who never knew where Hammondville was will know and maybe come see us."

If your stomach's growling just thinking about taking a taste of the new fare, you may have to wait – Friday night's service is completely sold out.

The episode is tentatively slated for a late April broadcast.

"Restaurant: Impossible" is one of two cable reality shows filming in North Alabama this week: the other is A&E Network's "American Pickers."
